Pranking the Oscars, Sacha Baron Cohen and Sean Young Edition

By MELENA RYZIK

4:07 p.m. | Updated LOS ANGELES - Making good on a few days of manufactured commotion, Sacha Baron Cohen arrived at the Oscars red carpet in full “Dictator” regalia. Surrounded by female bodyguards and sporting an obviously fake beard and a fluctuating accent, he spilled what he claimed were Kim Jong-il's ashes on an unsuspecting Ryan Seacrest â€" at least, Mr. Seacrest said it wasn't planned â€" and left, pulled away by (real) security.

Though it caused a momentary stir, the Bagger doubts it will have the lasting impact of, say, Bjork's swan dress. Then again, Mr. Baron Cohen and Paramount, the studio behind “The Dictator,” only need it to be memorable u ntil May 15, when the movie opens.

For an only slightly less staged stunt, we can always rely on Sean Young. The actress, who seems to crash an Oscar afterparty annually â€" or at least tries to â€" went for it again last night. She was arrested after a scuffle as she tried to get into the Governors Ball, The Associated Press reported. Dressed in evening wear, Ms. Young, a star of “Blade Runner” and “Stripes,” was first subdued by a guard in a “citizen's arrest” and then taken into custody by authorities. She was charged with misdemeanor battery at a Hollywood police station, posted $20,000 bail and was released early Monday, according to The AP. The arrest follows incidents at the Vanity Fair party and the Directors Guild Awards in which Ms. Young was kicked out. No word on the brave soul who first restrained her last night, but expect a full TMZ report soon.
