This past weekendâs Editorsâ Lab at the Times building was a lot of good fun â" and it produced a lot of great work.
All the submitted projects were so impressive, the jury had a tough time deciding. But after much deliberation, they selected a winner and a runner-up:
Winner: Chicago Tribune, âGame Centerâ
Game Center allows users to interact with Chicago Tribune articles through various games. The judges were especially impressed with the teamâs platform-focused approach: the goal was to âturn chicagotribune.com into a game.â For more information, take a look at the presentation and the technical, design and editorial details. The Chicago Tribune team won $6,500 and a trip to Paris for the GEN News Hackathon in June.Runner-Up: Digital First Media, âThe Wafflerâ
The Waffler asks the user to take on the role of a political candidate and answer a slew of rapid-fire questions. Can you stand firm, or will you waffle? Read the details or just dive in and play the game!
