Janet Yellen, the newly installed chief of the Federal Reserve, will be making her first appearance before a congressional panel in that role when she testifies before the House Financial Services Committee at 10 a.m. Times correspondents will be covering the appearance in a live blog here.

Ms. Yellen’s prepared testimony was released earlier in the morning, and as Binyamin Appelbaum reports, it suggests little departure from the policies of her predecessor, Ben S. Bernanke. “I expect a great deal of continuity” in monetary policy,” she said. Her testimony, and the committee’s questions, are also expected to focus on the disruptions in overseas markets and on financial regulation.
